The magnificent ‘Wisteria’
豪華絢爛「藤の花」
今回訪問したのは、東京から70KMほどの場所にある栃木県足利市「あしかがフラワーパーク」。前々から行ってみたいと思っていた公園です。「あしかがフラワーパーク」は藤の花の豪華絢爛な景観が日本の中で最も有名な公園です。2014年にはＣＮＮより「世界の夢の旅行先10カ所」に選ばれました。毎年、連休中が満開の時期にあたるためたくさんの人が訪れます。
This time, I visited ‘Ashikaga Flower Park’ in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, located about 70 km from Tokyo. It’s a park I’d been wanting to visit for quite some time. ‘Ashikaga Flower Park’ is the most famous park in Japan for its magnificent wisteria displays. In 2014, it was selected by CNN as one of the ‘10 Dream Destinations in the World’. Every year, the peak blooming period coincides with the Golden Week holidays, so the park attracts large numbers of visitors.
这次我造访的是位于距离东京约70公里的栃木县足利市“足利花卉公园”。这是我一直想去的一座公园。“足利花卉公园”以绚丽夺目的紫藤花景观而闻名，是日本最负盛名的公园之一。2014年，它被CNN评选为“全球十大梦幻旅行目的地”之一。由于每年连休期间正值花期，因此吸引大量游客前来参观。
園内に入ると早速、甘くさわやかな藤の花の香りが漂ってきます。こんなに強く藤の花の香りを感じたことはありません。それもそのはず、園内には350本もの藤の木がありますから。西ゲートから入ると一番先に現れるのが樹齢160年にもなる藤の大木。木の下に入ると頭の上には藤色の天井が広がります。下の写真では入りきらない広大な景観で一見の価値ありです。
As soon as you enter the grounds, you are greeted by the sweet, refreshing scent of wisteria. I have never experienced such a strong fragrance of wisteria before. And no wonder—there are as many as 350 wisteria trees within the grounds. Upon entering through the West Gate, the first sight to greet you is a massive wisteria tree that is 160 years old. Step beneath it, and a canopy of wisteria blossoms spreads out above your head. The vast panorama, too grand to be captured in the photograph below, is well worth seeing.
一踏入园内，便立刻飘来阵阵甜美清新的紫藤花香。我从未如此强烈地感受到紫藤花的香气。这也难怪，毕竟园内种植着多达350株紫藤。从西门进入，首先映入眼帘的是一株树龄高达160年的巨型紫藤。走进树下，头顶便是一片紫藤色的天幕。下图无法完全展现这壮丽的景象，绝对值得一看。
一房一房の花の美しさも他の藤とは違う気がします。紫に色づいた一つ一つの花がびっしりとひしめき合って房を作っています。寒暖差が大きいせいか色づき具合もしっかりとしています。
I feel that the beauty of each individual cluster of flowers is unlike that of other wisteria. The purple blossoms are packed tightly together, forming dense clusters. Perhaps due to the significant temperature fluctuations, the colouring is particularly vivid.
一房一房の花の美しさも他の藤とは違う気がします。紫に色づいた一つ一つの花がびっしりとひしめき合って房を作っています。寒暖差が大きいせいか色づき具合もしっかりとしています。
80ｍの長さもある白い藤のトンネルも見ものです。純白の藤が頭上に広がるトンネルの中はまるで雲の中にいるようです。こちらも藤の香りがいっぱいに広がっています。
The 80-metre-long tunnel of white wisteria is also well worth seeing. Walking through the tunnel, with the pure white wisteria arching overhead, feels just like being inside a cloud. The air here, too, is filled with the scent of wisteria.
长达80米的白色紫藤隧道也是一大看点。在纯白紫藤在头顶蔓延的隧道中，仿佛置身于云端一般。这里也弥漫着浓郁的紫藤香气。
藤が巨大な壁を作っているエリアもあります。むらさき藤が作る壁の大きさはなんと高さ8m、幅55ｍにも及び豪華な花の世界を築いています。
In some areas, the wisteria forms a massive wall. The wall created by the purple wisteria is a staggering 8 metres high and 55 metres wide, creating a magnificent floral display.
有些区域的紫藤甚至形成了一道巨大的花墙。这道由紫藤构成的花墙高达8米，宽达55米，营造出一个壮丽的花卉世界。
大木以外にも園内にはたくさんの藤の木があり、そのどれもが無数の花を咲かせ、紫色や白色の山のようにも見えます。
In addition to the large tree, there are many other wisteria trees in the garden, each bursting with countless flowers, creating a scene that resembles a mountain of purple and white blossoms.
除了那棵大树之外，园内还有许多紫藤树，每一棵都开满了无数的花朵，看起来就像一座座紫色或白色的山。
園内を彩っているのは藤だけではありません。この季節には色鮮やかなつつじの花が満開、藤の花と競って来場者の目を楽しませてくれます。「四季彩のステージ」では「白色のエリア」「ピンクのエリア」のように花の色でエリアを作って和ませてくれました。
It is not just the wisteria that adds colour to the grounds. At this time of year, the vibrant azaleas are in full bloom, competing with the wisteria to delight visitors. At the ‘Four Seasons Stage’, areas were designated by flower colour—such as the ‘White Area’ and the ‘Pink Area’—creating a soothing atmosphere.
点缀园内的不仅仅是紫藤。在这个季节，色彩鲜艳的杜鹃花也竞相绽放，与紫藤花一同为游客带来视觉盛宴。“四季彩舞台”上，园方还根据花色划分了“白色区域”和“粉色区域”等区域，营造出轻松愉悦的氛围。
最後にご紹介するのはやはりグルメ。園内にはたくさんのレストランやお土産屋さんがあり、地元名物の佐野ラーメンが大人気。今回食べたのは「藤ソフト」。藤の色をしたソフトクリームは色につられてか、ほんのり藤の香りがするようなしないような、藤の味がするようなしないような。いずれにしても甘くっておいしいソフトクリームでした。
Last but not least, I’d like to mention the food. There are plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops within the park, and the local speciality, Sano ramen, is hugely popular. This time, I tried the ‘Wisteria Soft’. Perhaps drawn in by its wisteria-coloured appearance, the soft-serve ice cream had a faint hint of wisteria—or perhaps not—and a subtle wisteria flavour—or perhaps not. Either way, it was a sweet and delicious soft-serve.
最后要介绍的还是美食。园内有许多餐厅和纪念品店，当地特产佐野拉面特别受欢迎。这次我尝了“紫藤软冰淇淋”。这支紫藤色的软冰淇淋，不知是受其颜色吸引，还是真的隐约透着一丝紫藤的香气，味道也似有似无。总之，这是一款甜美可口的软冰淇淋。
外国からも多くの観光客が来訪している「あしかがフラワーパーク」、藤の世界に是非おいでください。夜もライトアップされた藤を楽しむことができますよ。
Ashikaga Flower Park attracts many visitors from overseas; do come and experience the world of wisteria.You can enjoy the wisteria even at night, when it’s illuminated.
