[Kamakura] In Japan, June is the season when hydrangeas are at their most beautiful. Here are some of Kamakura’s top spots.

日本では6月は梅雨の季節、雨の日が多く外出も面倒になります。でも、そんな季節でも外出の魅力を作ってくれるのが「アジサイ」。日本各地にアジサイの名所はありますが、今回は鎌倉のアジサイをご紹介。鎌倉の和の雰囲気の中で咲くアジサイは日本ならではの癒しの雰囲気を作り出しています。
In Japan, June is the rainy season, with many rainy days that can make going out a bit of a chore. However, it is the ‘hydrangea’ that makes going out appealing even during this time of year. Whilst there are famous hydrangea spots all over Japan, this time we’d like to introduce the hydrangeas of Kamakura. Blooming amidst Kamakura’s traditional Japanese atmosphere, these hydrangeas create a soothing ambience that is uniquely Japanese.
在日本，6月是梅雨季节，雨天较多，外出也变得有些麻烦。不过，即使在这样的季节，也能让外出充满魅力的正是“绣球花”。虽然日本各地都有绣球花名胜，但这次要向大家介绍的是镰仓的绣球花。在镰仓的日式氛围中绽放的绣球花，营造出一种唯有日本才有的治愈氛围。
鎌倉は「スラムダンク」などの日本アニメで世界的に有名になった「江ノ電」のかわいい電車に乗っていきます。この季節だけの限定で行先表示板にもアジサイのイラストが表示されています。
In Kamakura, we’ll be travelling on the charming ‘Enoden’ trains, which have become world-famous thanks to Japanese anime such as *Slam Dunk*. As a seasonal special, the destination signs are currently displaying illustrations of hydrangeas.

最初の訪問地は北鎌倉駅で降りてすぐのところにある円覚寺。階段を上り入り口にはすでにアジサイがいっぱいです。総門をくぐると２階建ての豪快な山門がそびえだっています。1282年に建てられた円覚寺には国宝の舎利殿があります。こちらは２階建ての堂々とした佇まいの山門です。
Our first stop was Engaku-ji Temple, located just a short walk from Kita-Kamakura Station. As we climbed the steps, we were greeted by a profusion of hydrangeas at the entrance. Passing through the main gate, we found ourselves facing an imposing two-storey sanmon gate. Built in 1282, Engaku-ji is home to the Shari-den, a National Treasure. This is the imposing two-storey sanmon gate.
第一站是北镰仓站下车后就在眼前的圆觉寺。走上台阶，入口处早已开满了绣球花。穿过总门，一座气势恢宏的两层山门耸立在眼前。建于1282年的圆觉寺内，坐落着被列为国宝的舍利殿。这就是那座气势恢宏的两层山门。
境内の竹林や和風庭園も落ち着いた雰囲気で癒されます。
The bamboo grove and Japanese-style garden within the temple grounds also offer a soothing, tranquil atmosphere.

円覚寺から少し歩いたところにあるのが鎌倉の「二大紫陽花寺」として有名な明月院です。1160年に創建された明月院には2500株ものアジサイが花を咲かせていて「明月院ブルー」とも言われています。
A short walk from Engaku-ji lies Meigetsu-in, famous as one of Kamakura’s ‘two great hydrangea temples’. Founded in 1160, Meigetsu-in is home to no fewer than 2,500 hydrangea plants, the colour of which is often referred to as ‘Meigetsu-in Blue’.
从圆觉寺步行片刻即可到达的，便是作为镰仓“两大绣球花寺”之一而闻名的明月院。这座建于1160年的明月院内，盛开着多达2500株绣球花，其花色也被称为“明月院蓝”。
明月院本堂にある丸窓は「悟りの窓」だそうです。円は大宇宙を表していて円から見える世界が禅の教えとのことです。
The round window in the main hall of Meigetsu-in is said to be the ‘Window of Enlightenment’. The circle is said to represent the vast universe, and the world seen through it is said to embody the teachings of Zen.
据说明月院本堂里的圆形窗户被称为“开悟之窗”。圆象征着大宇宙，而从圆窗中望去所见的世界，正是禅的教义。

There are several Jizō statues and water basins within the grounds, creating a really charming traditional Japanese atmosphere.

北鎌倉駅から江ノ電で移動、もう一つの鎌倉二大紫陽花寺である長谷寺を訪問しました。長谷寺は736年に開創、大変歴史の深いお寺です。境内には40種類2500株のアジサイが咲いていますが、特に山の斜面に広がる光景は壮観です。
I took the Enoden from Kita-Kamakura Station and visited Hase-dera, the other of Kamakura’s two great hydrangea temples. Founded in 736, Hase-dera is a temple with a very long history. There are 2,500 hydrangea plants of 40 different varieties blooming within the temple grounds, and the view of them spreading across the mountainside is particularly spectacular.
从北镰仓站乘坐江之电，前往了镰仓另一座以绣球花闻名的寺庙——长谷寺。长谷寺建于736年，是一座历史悠久的寺庙。寺内盛开着40个品种、2500株绣球花，尤其是山坡上绣球花铺展的景象尤为壮观。
せっかく鎌倉まで来たので海を見ないわけにはいきません。海水浴にはまだ早いもののサーフィンで楽しむ人が見られました。
Since I’d gone to the trouble of coming all the way to Kamakura, I simply had to see the sea. Although it was still a bit early for swimming, I did see people enjoying a spot of surfing.
既然特意来到镰仓，总不能不去看海。虽然现在还不是去海边游泳的季节，但还是看到有人在享受冲浪的乐趣。
素敵な人と鎌倉でのアジサイ鑑賞、良い思い出になることでしょう。
